Statement of Faith

SHERMAN BIBLE CHAPEL CHURCH COVENANT

As a bond of unity among us, this church accepts for its members the following covenant:

Having been led by the Holy Spirit to receive Jesus Christ as our own personal Savior and Lord, and having submitted ourselves in obedience to His command to be baptized in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and have publicly confessed our faith in Jesus Christ; we do enthusiastically, joyfully, and with sincere hearts, enter into covenant with one another as one body of Christ.

We promise that we will steadfastly and faithfully study and apply God's Holy Word to our lives and faithfully teach Godly principles to our children and our children's children, that they might never forget what God has done for us.

We promise to give ourselves to prayer for ourselves and others, to walk in brotherly love and kindness; to be slow to anger, slow to take offense, and quick to seek reconciliation.

We promise to faithfully attend all stated services of the church, and faithfully observe the Lord's supper, remembering always to honor the Lord's day.

We promise to stand with our brethren in advancing the truth of the Word of God, and behind our leaders as they faithfully proclaim God's Word.

We promise to strive for the advancement of our church in knowledge, holiness, and love, and to sustain its worship, ordinances, and doctrine.

We promise to faithfully support our church and the spread of the gospel and to give as the Lord has prospered us.

We promise to faithfully carry out the great commission, seeking to win the lost to Christ.

We promise to live Godly and Holy lives before the Lord, before our families, and before the public. We recognize that it is God's reputation that we represent and do solemnly commit ourselves to do nothing that would bring a reproach and shame to His Holy Name.
